HL Hunt Pay is pitching AI payment routing as an always-on merchant account
The company says its processor-agnostic platform combines real-time fraud scoring, intelligent routing and automated chargeback management, with pricing that starts at 2.4% plus 30 cents per transaction.

HL Hunt Financial’s AI Payment Processing product, branded on the company’s materials as HL Hunt Pay, is designed to sit between merchants and multiple payment-processing banks. The company describes the architecture as processor-agnostic and multi-bank, with the goal of keeping payments available if an individual processor experiences an outage or a transaction needs to be routed elsewhere.
The product page centers on three automation features. Real-time AI fraud detection is intended to score transactions as they arrive; intelligent routing is intended to send a payment through the path most likely to be approved; and automated chargeback management is intended to organize disputes and reduce manual work. HL Hunt also advertises a never-close account guarantee. That is a product promise from the company, not a guarantee that every payment will authorize or that a merchant will never face an account review, reserve or regulatory interruption.
The pricing is presented as straightforward transaction pricing. Starter is listed at 2.4% plus 30 cents per transaction. Business is listed at 1.9% plus 20 cents and includes instant settlements, multi-currency support and advanced AI tools. Enterprise plans use custom, volume-based pricing. The company says it has no hidden fees or monthly minimums, but merchants should still review settlement timing, refunds, chargeback fees, reserves, cross-border costs and any network or assessment charges before comparing the plans with a conventional acquirer.
The central trade-off is between resilience and complexity. Routing across providers can reduce dependence on one processor, but it also requires consistent underwriting, fraud rules, reconciliation and dispute handling across those providers. A merchant evaluating HL Hunt Pay would want service-level definitions for uptime, a clear explanation of how routing decisions are made, data-retention and privacy terms, and an account of who bears losses when an AI fraud decision is wrong.
HL Hunt’s product materials make performance-oriented claims about approval rates, fraud controls and continuity, but do not provide an independently audited methodology in the materials reviewed here. The platform may be relevant to merchants with meaningful payment volume and multi-market needs; the financial case depends on the complete fee schedule and whether the extra routing and automation produce measurable conversion and loss improvements.
