London Stock Exchange Group agreed to acquire Octus for $3.535 billion in cash on October 22, 2026, expanding LSEG’s push into credit intelligence across public and private markets. LSEG said the transaction will be financed with external debt and remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

Octus supplies credit data and analytics used to assess companies, instruments and risk in credit markets. Adding that capability to LSEG’s Data & Analytics division would give the exchange and information-services group another way to serve investors and lenders who need to compare public bonds with private-credit exposures.

The strategic logic is data integration. Credit markets are fragmented across filings, loan documents, pricing, covenant information and issuer events. A broader data set can help users monitor risk and find opportunities, but the value depends on data quality, coverage, update speed and the ability to explain how an analytical conclusion was produced.

LSEG said Octus founder Kent Collier will continue to lead the business after completion. The announcement does not make the acquisition an immediate change to Octus products or customer contracts; those questions will be addressed as the transaction moves through approval and integration planning.

The purchase price is the headline figure, but the longer-term test is whether LSEG can combine Octus’s specialist credit intelligence with its wider distribution without losing the depth that made the data valuable. The deal also shows how market-data companies are competing for a larger role in private credit, where transparency and standardized information remain less consistent than in public markets.
