Visa moves USDC prefunding for Visa Direct into commercial production with Inyo Global
The rollout lets eligible banks, fintechs and money transmitters prefund cross-border payouts with USDC through Inyo’s API, moving the capability beyond a pilot.

Visa moved its USDC-enabled prefunding capability for Visa Direct from pilot testing into commercial production on October 16, 2026, with Inyo Global as the first processor to integrate the service. The arrangement is aimed at banks, fintechs and money transmitters that need to fund cross-border payouts outside traditional banking windows.
Prefunding is a treasury problem as much as a payment problem. A payout provider may need money available in a destination market before it can deliver funds to a recipient. Visa says the new capability lets eligible clients use USDC through Inyo’s existing API infrastructure, potentially allowing funding to occur around the clock rather than waiting for a conventional bank transfer to settle.
The commercial launch does not turn every cross-border payment into a stablecoin transaction. The recipient can still receive local currency through the existing Visa Direct payout flow, while USDC is used on the funding side of the operation. That separation may make the product easier to adopt, but clients still need to manage conversion, liquidity, sanctions screening, wallet controls and the legal treatment of the digital asset in each market.
Visa said access remains subject to eligibility and geographic restrictions. The first-processor model also means production availability is not the same as universal distribution. Financial institutions will want to understand pricing, settlement finality, reserve and redemption arrangements, reconciliation and what happens when a payout is delayed after the stablecoin funding leg has completed.
The move matters because it places stablecoin prefunding inside a large existing payout network rather than presenting a new standalone remittance rail. Its success will be measured by actual processor adoption, payout reliability and treasury savings, not simply by the number of blockchain transactions attached to the service.
