Huntington Bank introduced The 1866 Studio on October 19, 2026, an AI-powered operating system intended to help small businesses with financial, operational and management tasks. The platform is built on Google Cloud’s Gemini technology and is aimed at both existing businesses and people planning to start one.

The described workflows include launch planning, marketing campaign creation and loan-readiness assessments. That scope puts the product closer to a business operating assistant than a conventional mobile-banking feature. Huntington is trying to place its bank relationship inside the decisions that precede a financing request: how a company plans to sell, manage cash, organize operations and prepare the information a lender will need.

The bank’s distribution advantage is context. A financial institution can connect an operating tool to account activity and credit workflows, but that advantage also increases the importance of consent, data minimization and clear boundaries around advice. A model that helps draft a business plan should not be confused with a credit approval, and an AI-generated cash-flow suggestion should be traceable to the data used to create it.

Huntington described the service as available for early access rather than a fully mature product for every small business. That status matters because agentic workflows need testing across unusual business models, incomplete records and changing financial conditions. Entrepreneurs will want to know what is stored, whether human bankers review outputs and whether using the tool affects future underwriting.

The launch reflects a broader bank strategy: turn AI from an internal productivity tool into a customer-facing operating layer. The 1866 Studio’s success will depend less on the novelty of Gemini than on whether small-business owners receive useful, accurate help without losing control of their financial data or mistaking generated guidance for professional advice.
